NSW: Mardi Gras still alive and well, say organisers

Despite claims Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is old and tired .. organisers insist
they can provide the energy and love that will keep the lustre on the annual festival.

They say they have the international performances and a range of events to attract
tens of thousands of visitors to Sydney.

Mardi Gras chairman MARCUS BOURGET is promising a Mardi Gras that's bigger .. better
and more spectacular than ever.

Organisers estimate the festival .. which depends on almost two thousand volunteers
.. is worth about 46-million dollars to the local economy each year.
