NSW: Man arrested for armed robberies, firearms offences

SYDNEY, April 23 AAP - A violent scuffle at a Sydney motel between police and a man
wanted in connection with armed robberies has left two officers injured.

The 34-year-old man will face court today following his arrest at a motel in Randwick
about 6pm (AEST) yesterday.

During his arrest, a loaded firearm fell from his pants, police allege.

One policeman suffered a dislocated shoulder, while another sustained injuries to his
right shoulder and arm during the scuffle.

Police also allege when they searched the man's car they found ammunition, balaclavas,
a police radio and scanner, revolving blue police lights, three laptop computers and clothing
items.

The man was charged with firearms offences, assault, resisting arrest, drug and property
offences.

He was refused bail and will face Parramatta Local Court today.

The police officers who were treated for their injuries at Prince of Wales Hospital
were later released.
