Qld: NZ man drown s in Gold Coast pool

A 23-year-old New Zealand man has drowned in a swimming pool on the Gold Coast.

It's possible he passed out while holding his breath underwater.

Police were called to a Broadbeach Waters house about 8.30pm (AEST) yesterday.

A police spokeswoman says the man had been swimming throughout the day in the pool
and there are unconfirmed reports he was training for a triathlon.

He was apparently holding his breath underwater and he might have blacked out.

The man's name has not been released.
