Airbus waits on Go merger talks

THE proposed merger of budget airlines EasyJet and Go could be amake or break move in Bristol-based planemakers Airbus' battle forcontrol of the skies with US rivals Boeing.

EasyJet revealed on Friday that it was in takeover talks with Go,which operates from Bristol. An announcement is expected on Wednesdaywhen EasyJet releases its annual results statement.

Both airlines are in negotiations with Airbus and Boeing aboutbuying new aircraft. EasyJet wants 75 new planes, Go at least 80.

EasyJet chairman Stelios HajiIoannou has already said the aircraftdeal would now wait until the completion of the Go talks.
